Great article about "Like A Bosh"

If you've heard about that "like a Bosh" nonsense and believe it, then you don't know basketball.  Let's start to help you out by reading this article:

I'll post some other thoughts on the comments section.  For those that care to be informed/educated and not ignorant.

i do like the ending of that video. people are too reactive (and uninformed/not intelligent about how things work).

just because someone's stats are different (i.e. points per game has gone down - through 10 games or even all season), it do...esn't mean they "suck" (or are "like a bosh"). how many nba player's points per game go way down once they play for team USA (where coach k runs flex option for only 2 or 3 options). for example, derrick rose and rudy gay i remember had like 7 points per game this summer. well, then that means they are "like a bosh"? of course not, we all know they are great players.

the point is, the more great players you put on one team, the more the stats will go down for each player, especially 3rd option and down. but just because their stats go down doesn't mean "they suck". chris bosh is still a great player. he didn't forget how to play basketball. but the fact his touches have gone down and he is only taking 11 shots a game will impact his "stats" (which geeks get all excited about and reactive about). but his talent is still the same. people these days are too reactive in sports society, they get all hung up on stats and not actually using their eyeballs to recognize if a player is good or not.

it's like when a great coach goes to a bad team. well, the coach all of a sudden didn't become dumber. it's a different system/environment. people are too reactive. i understand the purpose of that video, but again, i'm glad for the ending of it, people are too reactive/uninformed.

i do think bosh could give more effort (who couldn't?) but people need to realize that the system spoelstra runs in miami is not the same system the raptors ran. for those who know basketball pretty well, we know bosh is in a different place on offense (taking over for beasley) so his rebounds will be different than in toronto, because of positioning.

beasley averaged 6 rebounds a game in miami, and this is a 6-10 dude with talent. he was a top draft pick and people were thinking he was somewhat of a bust because of his "stats" (not parlaying over from k state) and that was a bit frustrating for me as a somewhat informed fan because people think success is only by stats, lol. i kept trying to tell people that beasley is a really good player and it's because of how miami is using him why he isn't reaching "maximum stat potential".

anyways, i think bosh is getting the same rebounds per game as beasley did in miami. haslem is still in the same role so he's still getting his 8 rebounds per game as he's done his whole career with miami. it makes sense haslem is getting the same rebounds (outrebounding beasley/bosh). for the record bosh's turnovers per game have gone way down (again, for the same reasons his other stats have gone down, so we gotta be fair both ways, if people want to bang on bosh one way then they have to praise him for turnovers going down or they aren't being fair). or, they could actually realize how basketball works and not get bent over it all, lol. however, regarding scoring again, what is interesting is bosh's FG pct. is still the same! so the people that think bosh "sucks" all of a sudden offensively have no clue what they are talking about. just uninformed/reactive fans..

now again, i believe defensively bosh's effort and rebounds could go up, and the article i posted on the main site does show how bosh offsets most of that. and of course it will be a long season and he and miami will figure it out. and i do think miami should use him offensively to dominate the paint, especially how they did against phoenix the other night and lit them up by 30. so, there is proof that bosh in the paint will be successful. of course it all depends on matchups, and also people need to remember bosh is not a back to the basket type of post player. but regarding matchups, for example against orlando it would make sense run the offense through wade/lebron, not bosh. but yeah, they should run more options for bosh in the paint. and i know it's just the beginning for miami and they are still working it all out. it took the bulls years before they had the chemistry to win, and even more years before they reached 70 wins. again, i think the media/fans are too reactive in thinking miami will win 70 (or even 60) games THIS season. anyways back to bosh, he "can try to dominate the paint" all he wants, but miami/spoelstra has to choose to do that. bosh can't force it to happen (without creating more turnovers). hope that makes sense.

i also don't remember people banging on kevin garnett when he went from minny to boston and his rebounding (and scoring) dropped off 4 rebounds a game (5-6 a game in the first part of 2008). same kind of situation happened with him. but it seems people want bash bosh for everything (i.e. his rebounding) but forget when it happens to other players (i.e. garnett). both garnett and bosh did move to better teams though, so maybe they weren't totally interested in their stats but interested in going to a good team.

now, even though bosh went to georgia tech, i still have never been a fan of his personality. i like his skill a lot (just like kobe bryant, love the skill, "hate" the choices he's made regarding his person), but sometimes i've seen some shallowness and self-righteousness come through over bosh's career. i tried sharing this with raptors fans and they just dismissed it. glad to see they are coming around now...
